To Know and Be Known
In the first video of “Intimacy in Marriage,” Greg and Erin Smalley discuss how much we desire to be deeply known by the one we married.
The problem is that so much of our time is monopolized by budgets, to-do lists, and crazy schedules. As a result, wives and husbands rob each other of intentional time to know one another deeply. Over time, that leads to feeling distant and disconnected.
What can you do about it?
Greg and Erin share how to take a first step in this session.
Let’s get started.
First, watch the episode by clicking the video link below. Then, answer the discussion questions in the Go Deeper section at the bottom of the page. Finally, be sure to check out the additional resources to get the most out of this series.
Get the most out of this series by following these four steps:
Step 1
Download the "Intimacy in Marriage" discussion questions and talk with your spouse about them.
Step 2
Memorize and meditate on Genesis 2:18 ESV: “Then the LORD God said, ‘It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Write the verse on an index card and put it in a place you will see every day, such as your bathroom mirror.
Step 3
Listen to the audio of this Focus on the Family® Broadcast "Exploring the Depth of Intimacy in Marriage" with Dr. Greg and Erin Smalley.
Step 4
There’s a lot more to understand about intimacy than what’s in this video series. Greg and Erin want you to grow deeper in your relationship with your spouse and suggest you check out this two-book bundle about increasing your sexual fulfillment. The first book is Enjoy: The Gift of Sexual Pleasure for Women by Joyce Penner and the second is called The Married Guy’s Guide to Great Sex by Dr. Clifford Penner.
