Pornography is a real-life struggle for many people, including Christians.
In fact, roughly 70% of Christian men acknowledge they grapple with unwanted sexual behavior. And about 20% of women share the same battle. For a lot of them, sexual brokenness is more than a bad habit — it’s an addiction.
This was the case for Nick Stumbo. He was the pastor of a growing church and a youth cross-country coach in his community. But he had a secret life. He dabbled for more than a decade in pornography and soon discovered it was no longer just a “high school habit” he could quit.
When his secret was revealed, Nick’s wife, Michelle, was rocked with feelings of betrayal and inadequacy. She felt like she couldn’t tell anyone. Over time, those feelings of betrayal grew, eventually reaching a breaking point at which Michelle was ready to leave the marriage.
Fortunately, through counseling, Nick and Michelle found healing and experienced firsthand how accountability could help Nick overcome what he couldn’t defeat on his own.
